Description

A QR scanner that records who did the scanning. Enter your name, point the camera at a code, and the decoded value goes into your Google Sheet with the scanner's name and the exact time attached.

The name is the point

Most scan-to-sheet tools record what was scanned. This one records who scanned it, and it will not start until a name is entered — attempting to scan without one raises an error. That turns a list of codes into an accountable log: which storeman booked in this delivery, which steward checked this ticket, which technician signed off this unit. When a scan turns out to be wrong, you know who to ask.

Camera or image

The scanner runs in the browser using the phone or laptop camera, with the permission requested in the app. When a camera is not practical — a desktop without a webcam, or a code you were sent as a picture — you can select an image file instead and it decodes the same way.

What lands in the sheet

Three things per scan: the timestamp, the name of the person scanning, and the decoded QR output. A popup confirms each entry so the person scanning knows it registered rather than scanning the same code three times because nothing visibly happened.

Where it fits

Goods in and out, event and ticket check-in, asset audits, sample handling, equipment sign-out — anywhere the question afterwards is not just what was scanned, but by whom and when. The code is yours to extend with extra fields.
