Description
A point of sale and inventory system with real QR code scanning — point the camera at a product label and it appears in the cart instantly. Built as a single React page on Firebase Realtime Database, which is the whole reason it scans at all.
Why this one is not on Apps Script
Apps Script web apps run inside a sandboxed cross-origin iframe, and Google's permission policy on that iframe blocks sensitive hardware APIs — including the camera. It does not matter whether you have granted camera permission in your browser; the scan will not work. So this build moves the backend to Firebase Realtime Database and the front end to a plain HTML file you host yourself. Camera access works, and the app is noticeably quicker than a Sheets-backed equivalent because Firebase is a real-time database rather than a spreadsheet.
What it does
Products carry the full commercial picture — cost, selling price, wholesale price, MRP, tax rate, reorder level, maximum stock, supplier and storage location. Generate a QR label for any product, or bulk-print every label at once when you are tagging a few hundred items. At the till, scan or type the code, set quantity, pick the customer, apply an amount or percentage discount, enter the cash tendered and check out to a thermal receipt. Each product also carries its own stock movement log and sales history.
