AI Data Assistant for Google Sheets – Apps Script

An AI data assistant that lives inside your Google Sheet. Open the sidebar, type what you want in plain English, and the assistant does it — no formulas to remember, no manual row-by-row cleanup. Built entirely with Google Apps Script and React, with the spreadsheet itself as the database.

What it actually does

Pick any sheet from the dropdown and the assistant loads it, showing the live row and column count. From there you just talk to it:

• "Delete all the duplicate data" — scans the sheet and strips duplicate rows in one pass
• "Summarize this data" — returns the sheet name, headers, categories and a plain-English read of what the data contains
• "I need a formula to count pending and complete status" — replies with a ready-to-paste COUNTIF formula already pointing at the correct column letter
• Clean data, add a column, or generate demo records for testing

There is also a Create Sheet box: type a name, click the button, and a new tab is created and pre-filled with relevant demo data — handy for testing a layout before you commit real records to it.

Which AI powers it

The assistant connects through the OpenRouter API, which gives you a catalogue of models to choose from — including a free tier that is more than enough for learning and testing. The video shows exactly where to create the account and generate your key, step by step. Swapping to a different model is a settings change, not a code rewrite.

A sheet with a few hundred rows and repeated entries takes real time to clean by hand, and manual filtering is where mistakes creep in. This turns that job into one sentence.
