Free Barcode Generator in Google Sheets – Apps Script

Type the details, press generate, and you have a barcode image saved in Drive and logged in your sheet — carrying the product, the price and the location inside it.

The barcode holds real information

It is not just a number. The product name, the price and the location — which mall, which shop, which shelf — are encoded into the code itself, so scanning it returns those values rather than an ID you then have to look up somewhere else. For stock spread across more than one outlet, that is the difference between a label and a useful label.

Saved, not just displayed

Every barcode generated is written to Google Drive as an image and recorded as a row in your sheet, along with who generated it. Nothing is lost when the browser tab closes, the same code can be reprinted later without regenerating it, and there is a record of who produced what.

IDs you do not type

The ID is assigned automatically rather than entered, which removes the two problems of hand-typed identifiers: duplicates, and the gap where someone skips a number and nobody notices for a month.

Sizing and setup

The barcode size is a setting, so you can size it for a small product label or a large carton without redesigning anything. Setup is a Sheet ID and sheet name in the script, then deploy.

A note on method: barcode generation approaches have a habit of breaking as services change. This build uses the approach that works currently, which is worth knowing if you have tried an older tutorial that no longer produces an image.
