A scanner that answers one question: is this code real? Point the camera at a QR code and the system decodes it, looks it up in your sheet, and either shows you the record behind it or tells you it is not there.

Validation, not collection

This is the difference between this and the other QR builds here. Those write — a scan adds a row. This one reads: the decoded value is matched against data you already hold, and an unknown code returns data not available rather than being recorded. That makes it a verification tool. A code somebody printed themselves fails the check, because it was never in your sheet to begin with.

Where it earns its place

Stock arriving at a store that should carry your own codes. A product whose authenticity a customer or an inspector wants confirmed. A price or a specification checked at the shelf without opening the spreadsheet. Anywhere the useful answer is yes-this-exists-and-here-are-its-details, or no.

Nothing to configure

Unusually for these builds, the code needs no edits at all — copy the sheet, open Apps Script, run it once to grant permission, and deploy. That is the whole setup. It runs in a phone browser, so staff scan with the device already in their hand and nothing is installed.

One thing to get right

Keep the spreadsheet's sharing restricted. The value of a validator is that only your data can satisfy it — a link-shared sheet undermines exactly the check you built it for.
