Footwear breaks most inventory systems, because a shoe is not one product — it is an article, in several colours, in several sizes, each with its own count of pairs. This handles that properly, and runs the sale, the ledger and the returns on top of it.

Articles, colours, sizes

An article carries its number, name, base price, tax, weight, image and description — then colours beneath it, and sizes beneath each colour, each with its own pair count. Black in size seven is a different line to black in size eight, which is how a shoe shop actually counts stock. Articles can be made inactive, and an inactive article disappears from the sale screen without being deleted.

At the counter

The sale screen shows a live bill preview as it is built. Pick the customer or quick-add a new one without leaving the screen, choose the article, then the colour, then the size — and the system refuses a quantity larger than the pairs actually in stock. Add a discount, record what was paid, and the balance due carries forward. A sale produces its invoice number and can email the receipt to the customer.

What is owed, and what comes back

Every customer has a ledger: total sales, refunds, paid and outstanding balance, with payments recorded against it by method, date and reference. Returns are raised against an invoice with a reason, and only the quantity actually returned is restored — a customer keeping two of twelve pairs restores ten. A salesperson's return needs admin approval; an admin's is applied at once.

Guardrails, money and the forecast

An article with sales against it cannot be deleted, so history stays intact. Expenses are entered by category while income flows from the sales, giving a real income-and-expense view. The dashboard reports revenue today, sales today and total stock — and with a Gemini API key, predicts next month's sales from your own trading history. Two roles: admin, and a shop salesperson who can sell and add customers but not delete, and who sees only their own sales.
