Multi-Counter Queue Management System – Google Apps Script

A token and queue management system for anywhere people wait in line. Customers register at a form or kiosk, get a token, and watch a display screen for their number. Operators call the next person from their counter. Admins configure the services and the counters. All of it on Google Sheets with a React front end.

Multiple counters, one queue

The dashboard shows every counter at once with its current state, and the auto-assignment algorithm routes the next waiting person to whichever counter frees up first. That is the whole point of a queue system — one line feeding several desks beats several lines where one moves and the others do not.

The three screens

• Registration form — the customer picks the service they need and joins the queue
• Now-serving display — the screen in the waiting area showing which token is at which counter
• Operator interface — the staff member calls the next token and updates its status

Behind them sits the admin panel with full CRUD on counters, service categories and staff accounts, all gated by role-based access control.

Service categories

Not every counter handles every task. Services are defined as categories, customers choose theirs at sign-up, and the routing respects it — so a person needing one service is not sent to a desk that cannot help them. Waiting list management shows live position, and the status updates as tokens move.

Who it suits

Clinics and hospital departments managing patient flow, bank branches and service counters, government and municipal offices, retail service desks, and any office that has people waiting and more than one person serving them.

Setup

Copy the sheet, deploy the script, define your counters and services. The display screen is just the web app on a second monitor or TV, and the interface is responsive across phone and display.
