Finance Dashboard with Expense Approval – Google Apps Script

A finance portal with an approval step built into it. Users submit transactions with the receipt attached; an admin approves or rejects each one; only approved entries reach the totals and the charts. That single gate is what separates a finance system from a shared spreadsheet.

Submit, review, approve

A user enters a transaction and uploads the supporting receipt image, which lands in Google Drive and stays linked to the row. It then sits in the pending requests queue until an admin acts on it. Approve and it counts; reject and it does not. Nothing is quietly edited into the ledger without someone signing off.

Seeing the money

Approved transactions feed interactive charts with real-time filtering, so you can narrow to a period or a category and watch the summary totals move with it. The transaction table is searchable and sortable for when you need one specific entry rather than the overall picture.

Managing who can do what

Login is role-based — admins get the approvals, the charts and the user management panel; users get submission and their own history. The admin can add, edit and delete accounts as people join and leave.

Who it suits

Small businesses with expense claims to check, investment and savings groups where contributions need confirming, clubs and societies handling member payments, and any team where money moves and somebody has to verify it.

Setup

Copy the sheet, deploy the script, create the admin account. Google Sheets is the database and Drive holds the receipts, so there is nothing to host. The video walks through submission and approval end to end, and support is free if you get stuck.
