Student Attendance System with Percentage – Google Sheets

The upgraded teacher attendance register: every student carries a live attendance percentage, every submission is stamped with the second it was made, and the class list prints.

The percentage is the point

Most institutions set a minimum attendance to sit an examination — eighty per cent is the common bar. Knowing a student was absent on Tuesday is not useful; knowing they are sitting at 74% with a month to go is. Each student's percentage is calculated from the marks already recorded and shown beside their name, so the shortfall is visible while it can still be fixed rather than discovered at the end of term.

One column per day, stamped

When a register is submitted it is written to the next empty column, and the exact date and time of submission is stamped at the top of that column. The register becomes a grid — students down, days across — and you can see not only what was marked but when the teacher marked it. A register filled in three days late looks different from one taken in the classroom.

Teachers see their own class

The login row binds a teacher to one sheet, so each teacher's screen holds their students and their section. Adding a class means copying the sheet structure with its formula and adding a login row. Marking runs Present, Leave or Absent, with leave raising a confirmation that the signed application was actually received, and a final confirmation before the register is saved.

Reading it afterwards

A conditional-formatting recipe colours the grid — present green, leave yellow, absent red — so a month of attendance is read at a glance. The class list prints for a paper record, and the web app allows frame embedding so it can live inside your own school site.

Which version to take

The earlier teacher attendance build covers the same marking flow without the percentage column, the submission timestamp or the print option. Take this one unless you want the simpler original.
