Free HTML Form to Google Sheets with Correction History

FREE032 handles a registration form and its corrections with one screen, and it never overwrites what was originally submitted. Leave the ID box empty and the entry is filed as a new registration. Type an existing ID and the edited version is written to a second sheet, with the original left exactly as it was.

Two sheets, on purpose

Real Data holds what was first submitted. Updated Data receives every correction. That split is the whole design: an ordinary edit form replaces the old values and the original is gone, which is a problem the moment somebody asks what the form actually said at the time. Here both versions survive, and the corrected record carries the same ID so the pair can always be lined up.

The one form does both jobs

There is no separate edit screen to build or maintain. The ID field decides which path the submission takes, so the person filling it in only has to know whether they are adding someone or fixing someone. An ID that has no registration behind it tells them so rather than silently creating a duplicate.

Setting it up

Copy the sheet, paste the code, and both tabs are already laid out with matching headers. The fields on the form and the columns they write to are set in one place in the code, so adding a field is a change in two obvious spots rather than a rewrite.

When this is the right choice

Pick it when a correction needs to be visible as a correction — registrations, admissions, membership records, anything a second person later reviews. If you simply want the latest value in one row and no history, one of the CRUD files in this catalogue is the simpler fit.
