FREE038 is a small bank in a spreadsheet. You open an account for somebody, money goes in, money comes out, and every movement is stamped and totalled. It is the file for the informal accounts real organisations keep — a school canteen running credit, a committee holding members' money, a shop letting regulars run a tab.

Opening an account

An account holder is created with an ID, a name, a phone number and an email. The email has to be a properly formed address before the record saves — the walkthrough hits that check on camera when a malformed address is entered and nothing submits until it is corrected.

Money in, money out

A deposit takes the amount and a reason, so the sheet records not only that ten thousand arrived but what it was for. A withdrawal takes the amount, a charge and a reason, which is the detail that separates this from a plain running total: the fee you take is recorded as its own figure rather than quietly folded into the balance.

Every movement is identifiable

Each deposit and withdrawal is given its own transaction ID, with the date and time. Against the holder you see total deposits, total charges and the remaining balance, all calculated. When somebody disputes a figure, you have the individual transaction rather than a number that cannot be traced.

Setting it up

The workbook keeps holders, deposits and withdrawals as separate sheets, and the code refers to each of them by name. Paste in your spreadsheet ID and check those names match exactly — a spelling difference there is what breaks the build. Then run it once, grant the permissions and deploy.
