Google Sheets Record Editor with Login – Google Apps Script

R13 is the correction screen. Somebody's record already exists in your sheet and a detail is wrong — a spelling, a phone number, an amount. This web app lets the right person log in, pull that one record up by its ID, unlock the fields, fix what is wrong and save it back. No spreadsheet access handed out, no scrolling through a thousand rows to find the row.

Find the record first

Type an ID and press Get Data. A loading bar runs while the lookup happens, so the screen never sits there looking frozen, and a wrong ID comes back as a plain ID not found message instead of an empty form that somebody might then fill in by mistake.

Read first, then edit

The record arrives read only, with the name across the top. Nothing is editable until Edit is pressed, which stops an accidental keystroke changing a live record while somebody is just looking something up. Press Edit, the fields unlock, make the change, press Update and the same row in the sheet is rewritten. The name at the top stays fixed, so the record you are editing never silently becomes a different one.

Login and print

The whole thing sits behind a login, so only people you give credentials to can open a record at all, and there is a logout for shared machines. A print button turns the record on screen into a printable copy for a file or a customer.

Setting it up

Make a copy of the sheet and the code is already inside it. Run it once to authorise, create a new deployment set to anyone, and share that link. It also embeds into a website or Blogger page if you would rather staff reached it from your own site.
