Free Autocomplete Multi-Row Entry Form – Google Apps Script

R48 is a data entry form for the job where one visit produces several lines at once — a stock consumption note, a day's usage log, an expense claim with five items on it. You pick an item from an autocomplete field, type the amount and a remark, add another row, and submit the whole lot into the sheet in a single click.

Autocomplete driven by a sheet column

The item field is not a hard-coded list. It reads a column from a sheet in the same workbook, so adding a new item is one row in a spreadsheet, not a code change. Start typing and the matches appear. If that source sheet is missing the app says so plainly rather than failing silently, and the range is easy to widen from a fixed block of rows to the whole column.

Several rows, one submission

Each row carries an item, an amount and a remark, and you add as many as the entry needs. An item already chosen on one row disappears from the other rows' lists, so the same thing cannot be counted twice in one submission. Before anything is written the form checks that no field has been left blank, and only then does it append every row to the records sheet together.

Small things that save an hour

If the records sheet does not exist yet, the first run creates it, so there is no setup step to forget. The column order — date, item, name, amount, remarks — is set by two lines you can swap, and the walkthrough shows exactly that, moving remarks to the front and the date to the end. The script runs against the active spreadsheet, so there is no ID to paste anywhere.

Getting it running

Make a copy of the sheet; the code is already inside it under Extensions. Authorise it, deploy as a web app, and remember to update the deployment after any code edit or the old version keeps serving.
