Free Login & Register Starter Template – Google Apps Script

FREE010 is the login shell. Register, sign in, sign out — and behind it, a main page that is deliberately empty, waiting for whatever you are actually building. If you have a working Apps Script tool and the only thing missing is a front door, this is that door and nothing else.

How a user gets in

A visitor clicks New User, enters a name, a user ID and a password, and registers. The portal takes them straight to the login screen rather than leaving them wondering what happens next. From then on the ID and password get them in, and a wrong password is refused with a message. A logout button sits on the portal for shared machines.

The page you fill in

What appears after a successful login is yours. Paste in a contact form, an exam system, a records search, a school database screen — whatever the project is. The access check has already happened by the time your code runs, which is the part most people would rather not write from scratch.

Nothing to configure

Accounts live in a Login sheet inside the same workbook, and the script reads the active spreadsheet, so there is no ID to copy into the code and no second file to keep in sync. Copy the sheet, open Apps Script from Extensions — the code is already there — and deploy. The screens are Bootstrap with barely any custom CSS, so restyling them does not mean unpicking someone else's design.

One thing that catches people out

If you use phone numbers as user IDs, a leading zero disappears — Google Sheets reads 03224083545 as a number and drops the zero, so the login has to be typed without it. Format that column as text before anyone registers and the problem never starts.
