Multi-Term Student Result System – Google Sheets Apps Script

A student result portal whose structure is defined by your spreadsheet, not by the code. Add a sheet for a new exam term and it appears in the portal. Add a column for a new subject and the table grows to fit it. No edits, no redeploy.

The part that makes it different

Most result systems hardcode their terms and subjects, so every new exam means going back into the code. This one reads the structure live: a sheet is a term, a column is a subject, and the header row carries that subject's total marks. Create a sheet called Second Quarter, paste in your student IDs, and the next search shows Second Quarter alongside everything else. Change a subject's total from 100 to 78 in the header and the percentages recalculate against the new maximum.

One search, the whole academic history

Search by student ID or student name and every term that student has results for comes back together — final exam, midterm, quarterly tests — with an overall performance summary across all of them. Drill into any single term for the per-subject breakdown: marks obtained, percentage, grade and pass or fail status.

Built to survive incomplete data

Real school data is patchy. A student who joined mid-year has no midterm; a term may have IDs entered but no marks yet. The portal skips missing term data rather than breaking the page, so a half-filled sheet still returns a usable report instead of an error screen.

Printing and branding

Print a single term's result or the full combined report, both laid out for A4. The school name and the browser window title are set in one place, so the portal carries your institution's name rather than a placeholder.

Setup

Open the shared link, choose Make a copy, and the script comes attached to the sheet. Set your school name, deploy as a web app, share the URL with students. The video covers adding terms, adding students and the redeploy step that preserves your existing URL, and support is free if you get stuck.
